Katie knows that having a safe space can make it easier for people to feel comfortable enough to seek treatment. For her, Family Treatment Court was a community resource that helped her reconnect with her children during her recovery from substance use disorder (SUD). Now, she works as a Parent Elected Peer Advocate, supporting other parents with SUD who are working to regain custody of their children, offering them the same help she received on her own journey.
